'Eightactions' (2004) (new composition)
Eightactions is an acousmatic game based on the transformation of eight short sounds, coming from different sources. After selecting the sound objects, each of them was subjected to eight transformative actions.
The relationships between 'original' and 'derivatives' objects have been codified and sorted by the evocative quality of sounds.
The final assembly was aimed to formulate some contrasting emotions within a linear writing in which each short event is prepared from previous.

Dante Tanzi has studied electroacoustic music and worked for the Musical Informatics Laboratory of the University of Milan from 1985 to 2009. He has written many articles and reviews for various sound art and electroacoustic papers and participated in numerous prestigious events such as the Festival Futura in Crest and the Festival Licences in Paris. As you would expect from such a curriculum vitae, the sound work on Double Miroir is of the highest caliber. For this audio cassette release, the Observatoire label decided to accompany the album with a big booklet presenting pictures of Dante Tanzi's installations and texts explaining the artist's approach to each tracks. This is a truly welcome addition since for me this kind of sound art has to be approached with the conceptual ideas the artist had in mind while creating the pieces. The album is a nice mix of field recordings and sound sculpture made in the purest tradition of the musique concrète's school. On Double Miroir, the sounds transform and collide each other in a very dynamic way, the moments of silence are often followed by brutal waves of sounds, something very common in this genre of music. This is the case for “Gezi Park”, a piece inspired by the occupation of the Gezi Park in Istanbul on May 2013. On this track, you can hear the clash between the protesters and the police during this occupation mixed with some very nice techno alike tones. Sometimes, the field recordings and found sounds are effected by what sounds like formant filtering. Other times, the sounds are distorted and punchier. Various forms of synthesis have been used by Dante Tanzi for this album, among them additive synthesis and fm synthesis, both heavily used on the title track “Double Miroir”. Overall, the album sounds good and has been very well mastered. The combination of aggressive found sounds with the more mellow field recordings works quite well. The pieces on Double Miroir are never boring because you never know when a sound will “hit” you. This is what I call exciting “sound poetry for the mind”. You have to read the booklet to improve your enjoyment upon listening. All in all, a very nice release from Russia based label Observatoire. This cassette edition is limited to 200 copies and has a bonus track not found on the CD. Obscure Waves zine/2015
